I’m someone who recycles nail colours all the time (I’m environmentally-friendly like that). And the colours I go back to time and time again are neutrals.
Everyone needs a good go-to neutral nail colour. A colour that goes with everything, and suits any situation – from your daily 9-5 to your Aunt Mildred's wedding. But, like a man, a good neutral can be hard to find. And because I’m so chuffed with my current colour, and have had two people ask for the name, I thought I’d make a top 5 OPI neutrals.
OPI is a great go-to brand, and the below come in both normal varnish and shellac. PLUS I love how fun OPI names are. I wonder if someone's job is ‘Professional Nail Colour Namer’ and if so, where do I sign up? (OPI, seriously, please call me!!!)
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: While these colours refer to what are often call “nude shades”, I am strongly against the word ‘nude’ as it always refers to a colour that would only be 'nude' if you're white (and even then it’s hit and miss). It’s a discriminative word and one I believe the beauty industry MUST move away from.
1. OPI DON’T BOSSA NOVA
One of my faves – I'd describe it as a creamy grey (which sounds gross, but looks divine).
2. OPI BUBBLE BATH
A very light, soft pink.
3. OPI STOP IT! I’M BLUSHING
OPI call it a warm baby peach. I call it one of my top 5 favourites of all time.
4. OPI MY VAMPIRE IS BUFF
An off-white, very creamy neutral.
5. OPI PUT IT IN NEUTRAL
A very light pinkish-beige colour. A good option if you want it to look like you aren't wearing anything.
